TPS Eastern Africa Limited posted its group results for the year ending 31st December 2013 which showed a remarkable improvement in profitability. Profits after tax rose by 35.4% to KES 668.5 million from KES 493.5 million due to an ongoing implementation of its diversification policy and strategy that has seen it extend its marketing and sales efforts to non-traditional markets.

TPS Eastern Africa owns and operates hotel and logde facilities. It manages 15 hotels and resorts across East Africa under the Serena brand name. It also operates through five segments including Kenya Hotels, Kenya Lodges, Uganda Hotels and others. TPS subsidiaries consist of Nairobi Serena Hotels, Amboseli  Serena Safari Lodge, Mara Serena Safari Lodge and Kilanguni Serena Safari Lodge, Tourism Promotion Services in Tanzania which includes Kirawira Serena Camp, Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge and Tourism Promotion Services in South Africa.

TPS Eastern Africa received a Sh805 million ($8 million) loan from French fund Proparco to expand its Uganda facility. The funds will be used to build an executive lounge and additional meeting rooms at Kampala Serena Hotel. The company strategic focus has been in safeguarding shareholder value, maintaining the assets in good condition to avoid compromising standard and has implemented efficiency measures to reduce energy, procurement and operating costs.
